This is the official daily action for today
Make a quick call to your Member of Congress to ask them this one question: Is the United States at war against the Syrian government?
Last night, the President authorized 59 missile strikes against a Syrian air force base in response to Syrian President Assad’s heinous use of chemical weapons against his own people. This is the first U.S. attack on the Syrian government.
Based on our laws and our Constitution, the President can’t go to war without an authorization from Congress. While Congress has been busy trying to take healthcare away from 24 million people, shut down Planned Parenthood and rig the Supreme Court, they haven’t authorized any new wars.
Assad’s use of chemical weapons is reprehensible, immoral, and a violation of international law. But Assad didn’t coordinate the 9/11 attacks or prop up the Taliban in Afghanistan. Unlike ISIS, the Syrian government did not branch off from Al-Qaeda in Iraq. So it’s hard to see how the authorization of military activity against ISIS in Syria is would not extend of military activity against the Syrian government.
So call your Representative at 844-241-1141 with one simple question: Is the United States at war against the Syrian government?
Presumably they are going to say “no.” Perhaps some of them will say “yes.” There may even be some who say “I don’t know.” You’d expect, at a minimum that they all say the same thing – report back on our Facebook page with what they tell you.
